I built the backend foundation for Wander Sites, the direct-booking product for property managers, along with DNS and TLS infrastructure with one-click setup.

It became the company’s growth engine: WanderOS went from $0 to $2.3M in monthly revenue in nine months. The foundation is now owned by a dedicated team.

    Wander · Remote

    • Built authentication and authorization services, including OAuth for partner apps.
    • Owns site infrastructure: DNS, TLS and hosting for customer domains.
    • Led the monorepo to microservices move, taking core systems into separate services.
    • Public API traffic: helped cut it from a 10M/day peak to 3.4M; the five busiest Sites routes fell about 85%.
    • Reduced a core response payload by 83%.

    • Property Manager dashboard: onboarding, Stripe Connect, site setup, CMS, customer, booking and listing management, and automated marketing emails.

    • Architected the unified inbox that handles about 1M guest messages across 8 platforms.
    • Built tasks and vendor tooling for property managers.
    • Integrated Amex Travel’s booking platform for availability, pricing and tax sync.
    • Built natural-language search over availability, price and location.

  4. Lead Engineer

    • Built the Wander REIT backend for KYC, transfers and dividends — the first vacation-rental REIT. Q2 2023: 8.0% annualized return; NAV +9.1%.
    • Built the Tesla integration: driver verification and remote vehicle control.
    • Built travel insurance coverage at booking.
    • Built smart home access for guests and cleaning crews: locks, climate, lighting and hot tubs.

    One of the first backend engineers. Built booking, payments, availability, guest profile and the admin dashboard: the initial bricks of wander.com’s business.

About

I joined Wander in May 2022 as one of the first backend engineers. Since then I have worked across product, platform and infrastructure as the company grew to 60,000+ homes.

I spend most of my time on the services other teams build on: making them easy to own, safe to change while live, and fast enough that no one has to think about them. I care about developer experience and the team around the code: reviews, tooling, clear ownership, and handovers that leave the next team faster.

I helped shape the engineering team as it grew through reviews, standards and mentoring, and I still spend time maintaining the backend and leading the core systems.

Tools: TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kubernetes, Cloudflare, Effect.

I also build AgroReports, an independent satellite report product, on my own.
